Ebook Download | A Natural History of Negation | Perhaps the best history of negation available in English. It is historical in that it identifies the way in which a given author questions some logical relation that all previous thinkers took for granted. It is, in the language of the field, pragmatic. It discusses the relation between logical relations and everyday discourse. Horn, an eminent figure in the field, will on occasion offer his own solution to a paradox that has puzzled logicians for centuries. He manages to be perfectly clear without sicrificing rigor. And he is a terribly witty writer. When it comes to combining logic with wit, he has no peer except V.O. Quine. I'm searching for a used copy, but apparentlv everyone who buys a new copy hangs on to it.

Ebook Download | Alchemies of the Mind: Rationality and the Emotions | This superlative work belongs on the shelf of any serious student of art, literature, philosophy and psychology - not to mention those readers who seek self-knowledge. Author Jon Elster explores the complex cognitive antecedents and consequences of emotional experience. Noting that much of what society needs to know about emotions is inaccessible in the psychology laboratory, he makes original, insightful use of literary and philosophical sources. He uses the work of such authors as Francois de La Rochefoucauld, Michel de Montaigne, Jean de La Bruyère and Alexis de Tocqueville to examine how emotional mechanisms function. This approach sheds light on the emotions and on the way you might read literature or listen to music. We highly recommend this book and find it valuable not only for what it says, but for what it inspires. It is capable of changing how you think and feel in ways that are (just as emotions themselves) far from predictable.

Ebook Download | Bill Evans, "Live Sound Fundamentals" | Became interested in quality audio when I received a decent HD video camera and digital multi-track recorder from my family. Most books I looked at/purchased assume that the reader knows the "lingo", signal chain and nomenclature of the cabling, mixer, speakers, etc. Author Evans takes the reader on a measured, progressive trip from the raw beginning through the finished product for live sound. The illustrations and photos support the written content well. His audio experience shows on every page. Interspersed with some humor(sometimes a bit weird - it's a sound guy thing?). I give it a 4.5 Star Rating in that he unnecessarily repeats some material verbaitum in several of the chapters. It is relevant material (but, I got it the first time)...I thought I was having an old guy deja vu moment. A definite recommend for your library.

Ebook Download | Optimization Concepts and Applications in Engineering | This was the first book I read when I started learning about numerical optimization, a few years ago. I enjoyed the book so much that I purchased a second copy that I took with me on trips. The book covers various aspects of numerical optimization and includes QBasic source code listings in the book. The companion CD has additional QBasic source code and FORTRAN listings. The style is clear and easy to follow and is supported by numerous examples and graphs. In addition, the source code enforces the concepts presented by the authors. I congratulate the authors on doing a fine job in presenting the material. I sure hope that the authors come up with an updated version to give examples in Visual Basic .Net.

Ebook Download | Fundamentals of Biostatistics (7th Edition) | This book isn't for everyone, but if you want a wide ranging textbook with a little more mathematical detail than the other intro books, this is a great choice. Rosner explains concepts well and with many examples that help the reader to understand them. The flowcharts at the back of the book were written to help readers choose the right test for the right situation, and these are extremely valuable. The only problem with the book is that it is sometimes hard to sit down and read it without any preparation (e.g., lecture or prior knowledge).
Chess Mazes by Bruce Alberston • Volume 1 (2004)
Ebook Download | Chess Mazes by Bruce Alberston • Volume 1 (2004) | One of the basic chess skills that needs to be developed is visualization. You look at a position, think about where you should move a piece, what your opponent's reply might be and then go on to analyze the position that your mind's eye "sees." This book helps develop this precise skill.
It does it by setting up a position with black pieces on one side and just ONE white piece. The reader is then told to move the white piece to a certain square without landing, in transit, on any square controlled by an enemy piece, and to do so in the shortest number of moves. The student, particularly new beginners, may initially find it difficult to solve the puzzle without moving actual pieces around the board. However, when the puzzle -- the "chess maze" -- can be successfully solved without any pieces being moved, the student is well on the way to develop critical skills for playing better chess.
A book (and the next in the series, Chess Mazes 2) well worth the time for beginners and "lower" intermediate players. Also may be productively used by instructors working with students.

Beaded Chain Mail Jewelry: Timeless Techniques with a Twist (LarkJewelry Books)
Ebook Download | Beaded Chain Mail Jewelry: Timeless Techniques with a Twist (Lark Jewelry Books) | My friend showed me their copy of this book and now I absolutely must have it for my own! Mom? This is what I want for Christmas!! I just can't get enough of Dylon Whyte's instructionals!
I have purchased some of Dylon's tutorials off his Etsy website and have his first book, The Art of Chainmail Vol. 1, plus a book that he illustrated for Lark Publishing including serveral different chainmail designers, "Chain Mail Jewelry: Contemporary Designs from Classic Techniques" - I just have to say that Dylon's instructionals are fantastic! Whether they are self published by the master himself, or done through a big publisher like Lark - they are high quality and professional through and through! Super easy to understand and that's saying something, because English is not my first language and very hard for me to understand when in written instructions. The picture tutorials make it well worth the effort to pick up a copy of this book!
I've been making chainmail since 1994, when I first made a chainmail shirt for an SCA event out of 12 gauge, stainless steel, handcut... yeah, can you imagine? HAHAHAHA! Thank you Dylon Whyte and other great chainmail folks out there whom have shown me that there is definitely more to this whole chainmail business! And yes, I said business... if you are out there looking for ideas of things to make and sell or even give as gifts, the stuff in this book is just surely a bang for your buck!

Ebook Download | CIO Survival Guide: The Roles and Responsibilities of the Chief Information Officer | I have a single quibble with this outstanding book, and that is the title, "CIO Survival Guide", implies a reactive approach, while the book is totally focused on a proactive approach that will assure the success of any CIO who follows Schubert's excellent advice. From the first pages, where the new CIO is given ten key questions to ask the CEO to establish his of her role with clarity, to the steps to build a functioning IT organization that is aligned to business imperatives, this book is on target every step of the way.
This is the best book I've read on the roles and responsibilities of a CIO. Too many books on this subject are more about small-to-medium businesses and focus too much on managing technology instead of managing to shareholder value and business operation support. I strongly recommend this book as a primary reference, and also recommend "CIO Wisdom: Best Practices from Silicon Valley" (ISBN 0131411152), which is a collection of articles by successful CIOs that nicely augment this book.

Ebook Download | Designing the iPhone User Experience: A User-Centered Approach to Sketching and Prototyping iPhone Apps | I design and create iPhone and mobile apps for a living, so I've seen my share of carbon-copied iPhone HIG's with little thought about the user research, experience design overall device navigation. Suzanne's book is not this! She covers all of these important mobile user experience topics plus some. She starts you off with a classic interaction design approach, then dives into how these research elements apply to device design, and provides a great deal of exemplars to back up her thoughts.
For those already familiar with user experience design, Suzanne's discussion of the device capabilities, navigation and interface elements/interplay is equally as valuable. Suzanne's book actually changed the way I approached my soon-to-be-released iPhone App DrivingBuddy. You could spend hours looking for examples of well-designed mobile apps and diagnosing why exactly they are great, or you could just read Suzanne's book.
This book is clearly written for a designerly audience, but also lays the groundwork for user experience newbies. I highly recommend this book to anyone tackling the difficult task of designing for mobile.

Ebook Download | Precision Nanometrology: Sensors and Measuring Systems for Nanomanufacturing (Springer Series in Advanced Manufacturing) | In this excellent text Professor Wei Gao from Tohoku University describes the essential aspects of a relatively new discipline: precision nanometrology. This forms a new field of dimensional metrology that is defined as the science of dimensional measurement with nanometric accuracy over a broad measurement range from micrometres to metres. The focus is also on nanomanufacturing. The contents of the book are essentially a comprehensive summary of the research work of the author over the last decade or so. The strong group at Tohoku University, whom I was very impressed with during a recent visit, focus on the development of novel sensing technologies and measurement techniques. The main measurands include the surface form of precision workpieces and stage motion of precision machines - again with the emphasis on nanomanufacturing.
The book presents a number of basic, principles, but importantly, the author highlights these principles with real-life case studies that have been developed in his group. The principles of scanning mechanisms and errors, alignment, error separation, surface measurement, probe microscopy and scanning image-sensor systems are all comprehensively covered. All the necessary mathematics is included in the examples and case studies, and the whole book is packed full of useful photographs, schemas, graphs and tables. This book will be an essential text for all those involved in nanometrology and the broader subject of nanomanufacturing, and should sit on the shelf of students and researchers alike.

Developer to Designer: GUI Design for the Busy Developer
Ebook Download | Developer to Designer: GUI Design for the Busy Developer | Mike Gunderloy has put together a nice book to follow up his Coder to Developer, this time covering the basics of UI design and concepts. A good book, but not perfect. What's good: he systematically describes in detail all the major components making up the modern Windows user interface. If you feel challenged by Alan Cooper's ideas, then keep looking, this is a beginner's book and you are not going to find what you're looking for here. And this is not a criticism, merely an admission that this book is for a particular skill level, just like other development books. I'm glad to see Sybex and Mike Gunderloy giving the User Interface it's due and hopefully making developers realize that there is a little more to UI design.

Ebook Download | Mythology, Madness, and Laughter: Subjectivity in German Idealism | Zizek's essays are brilliant, but he certainly does not work very hard to present his insights to analytic philosophers as Gabriel does--I suspect his reference to Fichte's laughter at Verstand philosophers is probably an echo of his own. However, anyone who thinks Zizek is just some hack who grew so popular because he is so perverse would do well to dive into these two difficult and thought-provoking essays.
A very rewarding book, and let me end by reiterating--Markus Gabriel, this is someone to pay attention to.

A History of the Science and Politics of Climate Change
Ebook Download | A History of the Science and Politics of Climate Change | Bert Bolin's book on climate change is an essential text for anyone looking at the role of science in the climate change negotiations. He was the first chair of the IPCC, but wrote the book after leaving the post and shortly before his death. As a result, while drawing on his personal experiences, he writes from the perspective of an "inside-outsider". His analysis shows how thorough the IPCC process was in achieving consensus and puts down, with effectiveness, the "deniers" who question the agreed science. Additionally, his narrative shows how international agreements are reached: by consensus, slowly, but thoroughly, something that only insiders are really able to observe.

Ebook Download | Frommer's Alaska 2010 (Frommer's Colour Complete Guides) | This book covers visiting the state of Alaska quite thoroughly, with 45 pages devoted specifically to Denali National Park (which is of particular interest to me). The included foldout map is highly detailed and useful. It is great to see that both Frommer's and Fodor's have been increasingly adding more and more color photos to their travel guides. Previously, the DK Eyewitness Travel Guides and Apa Insight Guides had more color photos in their books, but I felt that they sometimes had too many photos at the expense of informative text. Frommer's and Fodor's use fewer color photos and more text on their pages. Thorough coverage of a state filled with beautifully wild and rugged scenery.

It lists things to do for free in town. It also vividly describes the shows Vegas has to offer, which is helpful when trying to narrow your show selection down to the top choices. And, the book also has overall area maps and detailed, up-close maps that label the restaurants, free things, and shows it talks about. The slightest complaint I have with this book is that the writers sometimes seem snooty when describing restaurants. Sometimes, I just want to know how the food tastes, not how the place looks. Resoundingly, overall, I highly recommend this book.

The company I worked for would not reimburse the cost of a failed test, so my faiure also took $100.00 out of my pocket. A friend suggested the Sybex study guide to the exam. I not only learned more than I had taking the Microsoft course, I also learned the rationale behind the way a Microsoft test is constructed. I passed the W95 exam on the retake. Since then I have used Sybex study guides for all Microsoft Certifications. In fact, I have passed exams without ever having taken the course just by using these study guides, including this one. Ebook Download | All a Twitter: A Personal and Professional Guide to Social Networking with Twitter | I'm not a big fan of tech books. My eyes tend to blur as authors bombard me with fact after fact and it takes me several readings to get all that dry information straight.
This book is different. Tee Morris has written a book that feels like a friend is showing you around Twitter, complete with tips and pitfalls (love the 'Little Birdie told me' and 'Fail Whale says'). There is a lot more to this social media craze than is immediately apparent, and I can only hope plenty of people read this book and have their eyes opened to all the ways Twitter can work for them. This is the book that I will be putting in front of our computer manager so that he has some idea of 'this Twitter thing.'

Ebook Download | Computer Forensics JumpStart | There is no question that computer security and the preservation and recovery of digital data in cases where there is potential malfeasance is a valuable skill. It is also an area that requires a great deal of technical expertise, as even an inappropriate bit among billions being altered can lead to a failure. The computer that may contain the important data must have the digital contents copied in a "pure" manner and then the computer containing the memory must be stored away as evidence. Even the volatile data in the RAM may have to be archived for examination.
This book is at best a primer on how to perform computer forensics, while it does explain what the field is to those with computer experience; in many ways you get only enough information to make yourself dangerous. The fundamentals of extracting data from computers as well as a list of some of the court-approved tools is covered, but not to any depth where a person could read about them and then use them effectively. By effectively, I mean well enough to be considered an expert witness in court. The contents of this book should be considered as only a first step in several composing a journey to where you can justifiably be considered an expert in digital forensics. If kept within those parameters, then this book is a good place to begin your studies.

Networks and Netwars: The Future of Terror, Crime, and Militancy
Ebook Download | Networks and Netwars: The Future of Terror, Crime, and Militancy | This is the best 'network theory' book I've read. The book is a collection, and the 'field work' is more enthusiastic than thought provoking. Binding together the fieldwork, at front and back, is the analysis of Arquilla and Ronfeldt. Though only 20% of the text, their comments make the reading exceptionally rewarding. The deep dynamic guiding Arquilla and Ronfeldt's analysis is that the information revolution favors the rise of network forms of organization and thus redefines cooperation and conflict. According to their terminology, the really bad side is 'cyberwar', an earlier book. 'Netwar' is a more ambiguous form of network conflict, one that can be used by social activists for the benefit of all. While I find their scholarship excellent, I'm less than sanguine regarding our ability to distinguish enthusiasm from cohersion.
The term netwar calls attention to the prospect of network-based conflict becoming pervasive at all levels of social interaction. Just as romance is now streamlined by online match-makers, so too will the new technologies enhance and focus aggression, both the good and bad kind. According to the authors, 'Netwar' is a form of 'just warfare.' Most of the book covers examples of non-violent, democratic netwar-warriors.There is a brief review of traditional crime going online for drug distribution efficiencies, but most is devoted to friendly political activists ranging from Zapatistas to anti-globalists.

Ebook Download | Home Guide to Cake Decorating | I LOVE this book. I have tried a few things out of it already, and while I haven't got the hang of it quite, this is one of the best books i have come across for cake decorating and learnign it. There is a substantial section at the start which is all about cake decorating and how to do it - each chapter is a different aspect, such as run outs, flowers, lace work, piping, colouring etc. In the back of the book are several recipes for cakes which have easy to follow instructions, but even better they have the size of cake tin and what amoutn of ingreidnets you need in a simple to use chart.
Now to teh designs - some of the best I have seen - some are just gorgeous - the truffle cake took a bit of work but it was well worth it for a friend of mine who was leaving and I wanted to do something really special and beautiful for her. The recipes also mention if you can make anything in advance, how and where to keep it etc so I was able to a lot before the event and assemble it reasonably quickly. I also made the girls castle cake - an absolute gem - my daughter ADORED it - she is really into Barbie as Rapunzel at the moment so those magical castles are her dream. There are a huge variety of ideas in here from fabulous tall jungle cakes, number cakes for kids, fabulous wedding cakes, traditional cakes, really lovely christmas cakes and so much more . It is a massive book at 428 pages, but is only just larger in proportions than a large format paperback. A lot heavier though as it is done on gloss stock .
Sumptuously illustrated, my 3 year old daughter loves reading it - I am trying out the Humpty cake next. Each has its own challenges and while I am not a fan of piping and not very good at it, there is much more than piping here, and some great ideas for layer cakes too. Highly recommended for beginners or experts, something in here for everyone and every occassion.

Although the book is targeted toward students and biologists, anyone who has a keen interest in virology will gain much from its perusal. Packed with diagrams, and containing hundreds of references, readers should have no problems in assimilating the information in the book, even though it is quite sizable. I only read chapters 1, 2, 5, 6, and 13 (due only to time constraints and not because the other chapters were deemed unimportant) so my review will be confined to listing some of the interesting facts and helpful features of the book.
Trading Classic Chart Patterns
Ebook Download | Trading Classic Chart Patterns | This 439-page book is authored by Thomas Bulkowski, a successful full-time investor and trader for over 20 years. In his spare time, he previously penned the Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns (2000). For those investors and traders who want to know the performance characteristics of specific popular chart patterns, this book provides the nuts-and-bolts. The book is not light reading and requires a great deal of concentration if you expect to get the most out of it. If you are beginning investor or trader then you may want to wait a bit until you've mastered you chart patterns and terminology before delving into this book. If you like statistical data and like to work with numbers, then this book will make you happy. Each chapter on the chart patterns follow a similar template so that you know what to expect in future chapters as far as format is concerned.
The book is divided into two parts. Part I (85 pages) presents new research on trendlines, support and resistance, placing stops, selling considerations, and common trading mistakes. Part II (about 300 pages) reviews in detail 14 chart patterns (market tops and bottoms, head-and-shoulders, rectangles, triangles and scallops - rounded bottoms). Bulkowski also provided a 19-page summary of the bullish and bearish patterns with their performance statistics. Also included is a 9-page glossary and the methodology used to determine the statistics for each pattern.

Ebook Download | Blissful Data: Wisdom and Strategies for Providing Data That's Meaningful, Useful, and Accessible for All Employees | I really enjoyed reading Blissful Data on one of my recent business trip. The first thing that struck me was the distinctive coaching style of the author. By not coming across as teaching, preaching, or mothering, I found it easy to "listen" and take the author's friendly advice to heart. As I got into the book, I discovered the author's wit and talent in illustrating difficult technology concepts using everyday life examples. By the time I finished the book, it became clear that the book has comprehensively covered technology, human factors, project disciplines, and everything else necessary for successful implementations of enterprise data warehouses. It is an easy read, flows well, and expertly organized. I was able to finish it in a couple of hours to get all the salient points, and I know where to go back and easily find the details if I needed to.

Ebook Download | MCSE: Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Planning, Implementation, and Maintenance Study Guide | I used this book and some separate practice questions to study for the exam, and I passed on my first try. The practice questions i bought were ok, but they didn't really explain any of the topics very well. This book covers all of the exam objectives very thoroughly, with lots of theory AND practical information. It also includes what they call "real world scenarios" that do a good job of adding some context to the rest of the information in the chapters. The extra CD content could have been better, but I bought the book for the book, not the CD. The chapters are clearly laid out, explaining the exam objective coverage at the beginning of each one. This book has everything you need to pass the exam and actually learn the material. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone studying for the exam.

Ebook Download | Mathematics for 3D Game Programming and Computer Graphics | This book is great. Its material is well explained, the topics covered are complete (for the most part), and the examples make sense. It is a fantastic reference that should be on the shelf of any professional game programmer or aspiring game programmer. However, this book isn't a hand holding guide to making "cool" games, as some reviewers expected it to be. There is no single book for that. There are so many topics to cover, it would be impossible to put them all into one text. Please don't be fooled by reviews from non-professionals, as this book is a must have. For a list of beginner books to give yourself an introduction to game programming.

Ebook Download | American Electricians' Handbook | I originally purchased this book on the recommendation of another electician. Many electrician training schools use this same book to teach their students. I found it to be easy to comprehend, and to be a wealth of information that has helped me enormously in my work, and to prepare for Electrician's exams. I would recommend this to any electrician (Apprentice, Journeyman, etc. I have used and abused mine so much, that it's time for me to purchase another copy) that's how useful a tool it is.

Ebook Download | The Shape of Content: Creative Writing in Mathematics and Science | Over a few recent days I've been sampling from THE SHAPE OF CONTENT and it has supplied ongoing delight. I began with the collection's poetry and with names familiar to me--Robin Chapman, Chandler Davis, and Emily Grosholz. Liking what I found I went further and found Adam Dickinson and others. Turning to longer pieces, I met Eric Neville through the well-written prose of Marjorie Senechal. I was drawn in by the mathematical fiction of Manil Suri and Alex Kasman. And there is more, much more. For all readers who have connections to mathematics, this collection of creative work is a treasure to be oft-visited and enjoyed.

Ebook Download | The Observer's Year: 366 Nights in the Universe | The Observer's Year is a fascinating potpourri of sky observing delights; a book destined to serve many an astronomy buff as tattered-ear reference for years. With succeeding nights of the year as context, Patrick Moore opens a treasure chest of astronomy. Specific stars, galaxies, the Moon, planets, meteor showers, nebulae and clusters are described and discussed with a casual randomness not often seen in books of science. The author often pays homage to famous, and not so famous, heroes of astronomy, to great accomplishments or to noteworthy events. He marks many dates by describing an "anniversary" or "future point of interest" in margin notes. Tables and charts accompany many of the stories, and simple star maps are included for each month. Most welcome, this book is designed for those viewing the sky with naked eye, binoculars or small telescope, but the armchair astronomer will read and reread this book as well. The index is weak and, considering the randomized placement of the stories, makes finding specific items difficult. Also, the lack of photographs is often disappointing. But, all in all, this book is a good companion to any introductory astronomy text, and a great gift for the practical observer.

Ebook Download | Handbook of Matrices | This book is in fact an extensive collection of results and definitions on matrices. If you want a book that develops the theory of matrices, this is not what you are looking for. But, if you work with matrices and you need a quick reference to help your research for example, this is the book for you. It is well organised and contains quite a number of results on matrices. At the same time it provides a number of references for additional information on a particular subject.

Advanced Organic Chemistry, Fourth Edition - Part B: Reaction andSynthesis
Ebook Download | Advanced Organic Chemistry, Fourth Edition - Part B: Reaction and Synthesis | I found this book extremely easy to read and makes a great addition to the library owned by an organic chemist. Certainly, this book deserves much attention and I believe that it describes many concepts in a simpler manner when comparison to Jerry March's book is called upon. The book is well-written and is exactly what undergraduate students interested in organic chemistry need to read if they want to expand their knowledge of the field without getting into a complex text right away. Definitively, I recommend this book in the shelf of any practicing and non-practicing chemist.
Mastering AutoCAD MEP 2010
Ebook Download | Mastering AutoCAD MEP 2010 | This book is an excellent resource for every AutoCAD MEP user. It assumes some basic AutoCAD back ground and builds on that with exercises and explanations of the more complicated tools available in AuotCAD MEP. It addresses the production process of a document set rather than commands so users are given real life examples to apply to their own work. The step by step exercises are clear, easy to understand and often illustrated for additional clarity. Mastering AutoCAD MEP 2010 is peppered with Notes, Tips, and Hints that are worth the price of the book by themselves.

Ebook Download | Web Design for Teens | I recently purchased this book and I must first admit that I am not a teenager. I am well into my 70"s and I rationalized that if a teenager could master this web design stuff I should be able to at least come close.
I am about half way into the book and I am very pleased with my progress. I can now grasp the basics of HTML source. The book also introduced me to a web site that allows you to create a web design automatically.(yet, displays the source code, if you wish to see pure HTML.) Its great!
The book also tells you how to put your completed web design on line. If you ask yourself what web site a 70+ old male could design that is worth while, just you wait. It will be unique and best of all it will be my own design!

Volume 4A
Ebook Download | The Art of Computer Programming, Volume 4A: Combinatorial Algorithms, Part 1 | Knuth has written many books considered classics. Some of the previous works have been set-up for where the real fun is - Combinatorics. In one of my own columns, I say "Never trust the brute-force power of a computer network to do the job of a combinatorialist." In 1967, John P. Robinson and Arthur J. Bernstein published an optimal Golomb ruler with 24 marks (OGR24). Their solution was confirmed in 2004 by a massive distributed effort using tens of thousand of computer years.
Knuth is attempting to discuss all the algorithms that will still be important 50 years from now. The amount of speed given using these algorithms is staggering. Some examples topics in the book:
Page 222 - Algorithm S: Breadth-first synthesis of BDDs
Page 293 - Balanced and Complementary Gray codes.
Page 424 - Stirling numbers and set partitions.
Page 449 - Generating binary trees

Helpful mathematical illustrations feature prominently throughout the book, and pretty much every page is gorgeously formatted. Knuth developed TeX in part to produce beautiful books, and that is on display here. Many thoughtful questions are provided as an aid to learning these very useful techniques. The Answers section runs for 303 pages. It will take me months or years to digest most the information in this work, but I can't imagine a better presentation for this difficult but lucratively useful material.
Advancing the Science of Climate Change (National Research Council)
Ebook Download | Advancing the Science of Climate Change (National Research Council) | Climate change is one of the most hotly debated topics in today's science. The National Research Council has placed out a series of books discussing the issue with extra focus on each of the major topics involved. "Advancing the Science of Climate Change" focuses on the importance of advancing science in the continuing research into global warming. With government intervention growing, scientific research is more vital than ever. "Informing an Effective Response to Climate Change" focuses on reporting the facts that have been found on the issue and making it so that the people and politicians are well informed and are fully understanding of the issue at hand. "Limiting the Magnitude for Future Climate Change" analyzes what can be done to reduce the impact that climate change will have on our society and our world. Reducing the impact will be the first step in reacting to the climate change which cannot be stopped. "Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change" is a guide elaborating further on how America can change to meet what climate change has wrought for the country. Managing resources and protecting the people and infrastructure of society are the goals within. The series as a whole provides highly scholarly insight on the dilemma and how to answer it, making each core additions to any environmental studies community or college library collection.

Ebook Download | Dynamics: The Geometry of Behavior (Studies in Nonlinearity) | This is a great book to have as a suppliment to any of the classical dynamical systems books. The book starts with phase diagrams for periodic behaviour then moves on to explain the dynamics of chaotic and bifurcation behaviours entirely in pictures. This book will suppliment traditional nonlinear dynamics courses at advanced undergraduate level.

Ebook Download | Cyber Crime Investigator's Field Guide | I found this book to be fantastic. Whether you are an experienced investigator of computer network security incidents (as I am for government/military/commercial organizations) or a neophyte just getting into the field of computer forensics, this book takes you through everything you need to know. The chapter on how the author handles an investigation in detail from start to finish is great. I'm applying what I learned there already. The coverage of forensic tools such as EnCase and tools from NTI is great. He gives me step by step information on how to use these tools, which I really need because you can't remember everything to do with all the tools I am involved with. The various reference sections on web sites, tool sites, attack signatures, etc. has been extremly useful for me and various organizations I work with. It's great to have the DOJ Search & Seizure Guidelines in the book. Sure, I can go out to the DOJ website and after some searching find them, but it is difficult to work through all the various links, I can't take notes there, make underlines, etc. It's really nice to have these and other guidelines in a handy written reference. This is one book that goes with me and my team members whenever we leave for a client site. It has just about everything we need for reference purposes. The author calls it a field guide and that is just what it is. I highly recommend this book. Very practical. I just hope the author is going to write another book...no doubt we will pick it up.

Ebook Download | Asterisk: The Definitive Guide | Whether you have a passing curiosity about Asterisk or your very livelihood depends upon it, this is THE one Asterisk book you MUST have on your shelf (or e-shelf).
Originally called "Asterisk, The Future of Telephony", the new title is more apropos. Not only is "the future of telephony" a present-day reality, but all earlier editions of this have unequivocally qualified as the de-facto definitive guides. The third edition welcomes contributions from brilliant Asterisk head engineer, co-author Russell Bryant.
Our venture capital fund uses Asterisk to bring efficiency to our our portfolio companies. When not wearing my CTO hat, I also use Asterisk personally to build "crazy powerful" and fun telephony solutions for myself and family. With the stunning versatility and power of Asterisk, it comes as no surprise that there are more Asterisk servers than all the Google and Facebook servers combined. Asterisk has grown up to be a major force in telecommunications, and 'Asterisk: The Definitive Guide' indeed lives up to its title.

iPad 2: The Missing Manual, 2 edition
Ebook Download | iPad 2: The Missing Manual, 2 edition | The extensive features in Apple's newest creation, the "magical" iPad, deserve this new book in The Missing Manual series. In addition to its paperback version, iPad: The Missing Manual is available from the publisher, O'Reilly, in four different electronic media versions including ePub. This reviewer downloaded the ePub version to the iPad in order to read it there while exploring the very device it described.
A veteran author of books in The Missing Manual series, Biersdorfer, a New York Times tech columnist, provides clear, detailed explanations and helpful illustrations of the iPad's many features in a very readable, often entertaining way. A very helpful feature of the ebook version of iPad: The Missing Manual is that tapping on any entry in the Table of Contents and/or the Index takes the reader immediately to that precise point in the book. iPad: The Missing Manual will be most valuable to those with little or no previous Apple device experience. Nonetheless, even those who have used Apple products for years will find insights and tidbits that make using the iPad a more productive and pleasurable experience.
