Advancing the Science of Climate Change (National Research Council)

Ebook Download | Advancing the Science of Climate Change (National Research Council) | Climate change is one of the most hotly debated topics in today's science. The National Research Council has placed out a series of books discussing the issue with extra focus on each of the major topics involved. "Advancing the Science of Climate Change" focuses on the importance of advancing science in the continuing research into global warming. With government intervention growing, scientific research is more vital than ever. "Informing an Effective Response to Climate Change" focuses on reporting the facts that have been found on the issue and making it so that the people and politicians are well informed and are fully understanding of the issue at hand. "Limiting the Magnitude for Future Climate Change" analyzes what can be done to reduce the impact that climate change will have on our society and our world. Reducing the impact will be the first step in reacting to the climate change which cannot be stopped. "Adapting to the Impacts of Climate Change" is a guide elaborating further on how America can change to meet what climate change has wrought for the country. Managing resources and protecting the people and infrastructure of society are the goals within. The series as a whole provides highly scholarly insight on the dilemma and how to answer it, making each core additions to any environmental studies community or college library collection.

Dynamics: The Geometry of Behavior (Studies in Nonlinearity)

Ebook Download | Dynamics: The Geometry of Behavior (Studies in Nonlinearity) | This is a great book to have as a suppliment to any of the classical dynamical systems books. The book starts with phase diagrams for periodic behaviour then moves on to explain the dynamics of chaotic and bifurcation behaviours entirely in pictures. This book will suppliment traditional nonlinear dynamics courses at advanced undergraduate level.

Cyber Crime Investigator's Field Guide

Ebook Download | Cyber Crime Investigator's Field Guide | I found this book to be fantastic. Whether you are an experienced investigator of computer network security incidents (as I am for government/military/commercial organizations) or a neophyte just getting into the field of computer forensics, this book takes you through everything you need to know. The chapter on how the author handles an investigation in detail from start to finish is great. I'm applying what I learned there already. The coverage of forensic tools such as EnCase and tools from NTI is great. He gives me step by step information on how to use these tools, which I really need because you can't remember everything to do with all the tools I am involved with. The various reference sections on web sites, tool sites, attack signatures, etc. has been extremly useful for me and various organizations I work with. It's great to have the DOJ Search & Seizure Guidelines in the book. Sure, I can go out to the DOJ website and after some searching find them, but it is difficult to work through all the various links, I can't take notes there, make underlines, etc. It's really nice to have these and other guidelines in a handy written reference. This is one book that goes with me and my team members whenever we leave for a client site. It has just about everything we need for reference purposes. The author calls it a field guide and that is just what it is. I highly recommend this book. Very practical. I just hope the author is going to write another book...no doubt we will pick it up.

Asterisk: The Definitive Guide

Ebook Download | Asterisk: The Definitive Guide | Whether you have a passing curiosity about Asterisk or your very livelihood depends upon it, this is THE one Asterisk book you MUST have on your shelf (or e-shelf).
Originally called "Asterisk, The Future of Telephony", the new title is more apropos. Not only is "the future of telephony" a present-day reality, but all earlier editions of this have unequivocally qualified as the de-facto definitive guides. The third edition welcomes contributions from brilliant Asterisk head engineer, co-author Russell Bryant.
Our venture capital fund uses Asterisk to bring efficiency to our our portfolio companies. When not wearing my CTO hat, I also use Asterisk personally to build "crazy powerful" and fun telephony solutions for myself and family. With the stunning versatility and power of Asterisk, it comes as no surprise that there are more Asterisk servers than all the Google and Facebook servers combined. Asterisk has grown up to be a major force in telecommunications, and 'Asterisk: The Definitive Guide' indeed lives up to its title.

iPad 2: The Missing Manual, 2 edition

Ebook Download | iPad 2: The Missing Manual, 2 edition | The extensive features in Apple's newest creation, the "magical" iPad, deserve this new book in The Missing Manual series. In addition to its paperback version, iPad: The Missing Manual is available from the publisher, O'Reilly, in four different electronic media versions including ePub. This reviewer downloaded the ePub version to the iPad in order to read it there while exploring the very device it described.
A veteran author of books in The Missing Manual series, Biersdorfer, a New York Times tech columnist, provides clear, detailed explanations and helpful illustrations of the iPad's many features in a very readable, often entertaining way. A very helpful feature of the ebook version of iPad: The Missing Manual is that tapping on any entry in the Table of Contents and/or the Index takes the reader immediately to that precise point in the book. iPad: The Missing Manual will be most valuable to those with little or no previous Apple device experience. Nonetheless, even those who have used Apple products for years will find insights and tidbits that make using the iPad a more productive and pleasurable experience.
